had a great day at hillend on saturday , water quite peaty coloured due to strong wind for previous week but weather turned nice on saturday . fished lures round woodside and had a few pulls here and there but when i got to the mound i found a large group of the recent stockies willing to play ball ! had a stack of fish in the next couple of hours kept a couple then debarbed and released the rest , black fritz best option as usual this time of year ! will have to remember to nip off dropper in future when releasing fish keep gettin it in my finger !

I fished Hillend today for Pike on the fly.
i decided to have a another sneaky half day for pike on the fly before i go back to work tomorrow.
I booked a boat on Hillend, the boat cost £24 for a single angler.
Boat fishing is fly only and a electric outboard was supplied.
The facilities at the fishery were excellent with a brand new clubhouse, canteen and toilets :thumbup:
I set off in the boat looking for weedy bays, the wind was blowing strong from the east, luckily i had a drogue to help slow down the drift.
Once fishing i managed to catch a small jack which gave a good fight for its size.
I had a couple of fish follow and nip a the fly, i managed to re cover one of the fish that nipped my fly and it took the fly again but it did not hook up.
I covered it for the third time and again it followed me and third time lucky i hooked up.
Again it was only a small Jack around 5lbs but it was also great sport.
All in all it was a good days fishing and i will be back to Hillend to hone my pike fly fishing skills.

Going up hillend this saturday and sunday for the first time tenner for 3 rods pike fishing seems good value any 1 know if its fishing well or the best bays to attack got 2 days at it so any info well appreciated or if any1 up for a crack at it wae me let is know was ment to be venachar but this is the last 2 days at hillend and a wanted to try it out cheers

It's been fishing well over the past 2 weeks I no 2 weeks ago ther was a 28lb pike caught you will see the pic in club house and ther was a few big rainbow caught 13 and 15 lb and a 12 lb brown all on dead baits

cheers bud u fish hillend much av never been up so hoping it will produce a nice fish or two if am honest al b happy wae jacks aw day but would be nice 2 get a double never had one in 
even when a use the biggest baits ever still manage to hook the jacks good practice a supose untill a hook a big yin cant wait till that day comes :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
