Wader leak - stretched material ?

My Orvis (bottom of the range , but have served well ) waders have developed a leak......its a bit odd in that i'm certain there is no perforation, although only on the grounds that i dont get a wet spot/patch on the left knees where it leaks, rather more a larger, "damp" / slightly wet area.

I could get another season out of them , but i'm wondering if the material along the knee has "thinned" a bit, due to the stretch that the knee area of the wader suffers when croching etc ? Anyone else suer from this ?

Or am i talking bo11ocks ?

Thanks

No you're not. The specific material the waders are made of (and how many layers) will play a big part in how long a set will last. In all probability, Gor-tex is probably the best of what's out there, but also the most expensive by far. Do the other 'materials' work well, from personal experience they do ... and at half the price.

I've used Dan Bailey waders (hippers to chest height) for years and the only time I've had to replace a set was the material finally gave it up. Yes, there are spray on's that may extend the life of the material, but from all I can tell, the only things they really work well with is a Gor-tex based set of waders.

Just my .02 cents from personal experience.

Totally agree with the Goretex comment i have a pair of Cloudveils.
Goretex does what it says on the tin... totally waterproof and breathable
Pricey but if you use them as much as i do, at least twice a week and
three weeks solid holiday fishing as well as winter grayling outings its a wise investment, if you get 5/6 years out of them. All waders will eventually fail through time I reckon 5/6 years constant use is value for money. She went mad when I told her what I paid for them....and I knocked a couple of hundred quid off what I really paid

I have the same problem with my rapala waders Spider above the left knee seems to have bubbled a bit ,no obvious perforations but the material seems to have worn thin. End of the line for mine I reckon .As Derek said to me these things only ever happen when the water is bloody freezing ,I substituted mne for neoprenes to-day but no comfort walking in these.Time to fork out .

nah.... i got a deal on the Cloudviels worked out cheaper than the simms
i told her they were fifty quid only way i could justify having three sets
lying around, and also breaking the news that she wasnt getting a new leather sofa.
