2nd port-of-call Jim, dialled 1471 first just to ensure the correct number. :thumbs:

I then contacted HMRC & they are aware of this scam, for such an institution, I'm surprised that they haven't done anything about it seeing as it's been going on for sometime.

 

Definite scam. Don't even call back.

A similar scam is common in the US. The caller claims to be from the Internal Revenue Service and threatens legal action. The wording is almost identical. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the same group of people.

 

+1; I'm getting anywhere from 3 to 6 'robo calls' every day .....

 

I seem to recall an email along similar lines a while back.

Use the correct number (not the one they call with) and you might get a rebate. It's worth questioning them. I'm surprised you don't Alan.

 

Over the phone? not a chance, don't know who they are, I use a new fangled security device called post.

 

I guess they have nothing to do now Ken Dodd's dead.

Is this the way HMRC get you to contact them so that they know you are still alive & kicking? Stranger things have happened!!

 

For the avoidance of doubt, just look up the correct HMRC contact number from the Government website before you call them. It saved me several hundred pounds in tax within a couple of minutes conversation. Here's an example: Employer PAYE and National Insurance: payments - GOV.UK
